Artistic Director to Dance – Yael Flexer

As well as directing mapdance, award-winning choreographer Yael Flexer is the co-artistic director of Flexer & Sandiland. Flexer & Sandiland create live dance and digital works for stage, galleries and public spaces touring nationally and internationally. Yael originally formed her company as choreographer in Residence at The Place Theatre, London and the company has been commissioned to create works for among others Brighton Festival, The Barbican, Sadler’s Wells, South East Dance, Woking Dance Festival, The South Bank Centre and Brighton Digital Festival. Most recently Flexer & Sandiland created The Hum a sited work and for smartphone app commissioned by Brighton Festival 2017, Disappearing Acts (2016), Yael’s 13th full-length work for the company touring extensively in the UK and Norway alongside touring of the installations Weighting & Gravity Shift. Commissions as an independent artist include among others: E-Werk Tanz Festival, Edge, Scottish Dance Theatre, Gravity & Levity, Ludus Dance Company, Maslool, Tel-Aviv, Israel, Lîla, Three Score, Freefall and Cascade Dance companies. 2016-17 commissions include, Trinty-Laban, National Youth Dance Company Scotland YDance, Scotland, Stavanger University, Norway, Maslool, Tel-Aviv, Israel, Motus Festival, Dance East & The Place C.A.T. Yael completed her PhD in 2013 and supervises both MA and PhD students at the University of Chichester.

Rehearsal Director to Dance – Luke Brown

Luke Brown is the Artistic Director of Luke Brown Dance. Luke completed a BA Hons in contemporary dance performance at London Studio Centre. Luke has performed with critically acclaimed companies such as; Frantic Assembly and English National Opera as well as; Ben Wright, Junk Ensemble and Lila Dance Company.

In 2018, Luke, supported by Arts Council England created his touring production of ‘For You I Long the Longest’. In 2019 he completed research and development for ‘The Dandelion Child’, which led him to create ‘Walk of the Dandelion’ in 2021, which he is currently developing.

Luke Brown has directed and choreographed works for many companies including The Place, English National Ballet, Candoco Dance Company, Intoto Dance Company, DanceEast & Trinity Laban CAT Schemes, and Auditorium Ballet Professional Danza.
